Two Wounded Birds - My lonesome 사운드를 들어보면 전형적인 50's pop 센스 + Surf pop 사운드로 점철된 미국적 복고풍의 사운드이지만 Johnny Danger (vocals, guitar, organ), Ally Blackgrove (bass), Tom Akers (guitar)로 구성된 Two Wounded Birds는 영국 런던 출신의 밴드이다. 이들의 사운드는 듣는 이로 하여금 '한 여름 밤의 해변가'로 상상의 나래를 펴게 끔 하는데, 마치 타임머신을 타고 시간여행을 하듯 어질어질할 정도로 시간대의 순간적 이동을 느끼게 끔한다. 과거와 현재를 빠른 시간에 왕래하듯이 말이다. 근래 들어 이러한 류의 기타 팝 밴드들이 많이 등장하는데 필자 개인적으로는 이러한 흐름이 참 좋다. The Sunday Reeds - Handgun to My Heart 처음 이들의 곡을 듣더라도, 어? 하고 바로 Jesus & Mary Chain이 떠오를 만큼 착실하게 JAMC의 노이즈 팝/락 사운드를 답습하고 있는 이 The Sunday Reeds는 오스트레일리아 출신의 트리오 밴드이다. 보컬과 베이스를 맡고 있는 금발의 여성멤버, Romana Ashton , 그리고 기타의 Drew Jones, 드럼의 Andy Dawson. 이렇게 여성 멤버 1명과 남성 멤버..라는 구성, 게다가 JAMC의 추종자격 사운드 라는 공식은 단번에 덴마크의 The Raveonettes를 연상케도 한다. 또는 좀 더 Pop스럽긴 하지만 이들과도 비교될 수 있는 대선배 밴드들인 The Primitives나 Darling Buds까지 연상이 될 것이다. 그렇지만 당연하게도 The Sunday .. 2010. 8. 29. The Raveonettes - I wanna be adored 덴마크 출신의 Noise Pop/Rock 듀오, The Raveonettes가 오랫만에 새 싱글을 발표했다. 새 싱글은 오리지널은 아니지만, 인디 팝/기타밴드 히스토리에 남을 만한 명곡인 The Stone Roses의 I wanna be adored를 그들만의 버전으로 발표했다. 그리고 영상미가 꽤 괜찮은 공식 뮤직비디오도 함께 발표하고 있다. 특히 이 커버 버전은 영국의 유명 어패널 브랜드인 Dr. Martens의 50주년을 기념하기 위해 발표되었으며 Dr. Martens의 사이트에서 Free로 배포되어고 있으니 아래의 링크에서 다운로드하면 된다.
